Solution Types and Convergence๏ƒ

Each finished run is labelled with how its solution ended. The label is shown in the Runs tab, the coefficients table, the Flow tab and the report.

Label

Meaning

Converged

The full convergence check passed: the loads are stationary, and the residuals, continuity and turbulence-bounding criteria are met.

Steady loads

The loads settled within the tolerance of the check, while residual or bounding criteria still failed. The loads are usable; this is common on fine, wall-resolved meshes.

Unsteady ยท mean

The flow is unsteady, for example vortex shedding, and the mean of the loads settled. The value is a mean, not a time-accurate result.

Not settled

The iteration limit was reached before the loads settled. Treat the values with care.

The loads of a run are averaged over its last iterations. The Flow tab shows the convergence plot of CL and CD with the averaging window, for example Loads averaged over iterations 333โ€“664.

Run stages๏ƒ

While a run is in progress, its stage is shown:

Queued

Waiting for an earlier run.

Preparing

The case is being written.

Meshing

The aircraft is being meshed at its attitude.

Initialising

The flow field is being initialised.

Solving

The solver is iterating.

Checking

The result is being checked and the loads extracted.

Complete

The run is finished.
