System Requirements
Deneb Aero runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. The solver uses the processor (CPU) only. A graphics card is used to draw the flow in the browser, not to compute it.
Operating system
System |
Supported |
Notes |
|---|---|---|
macOS |
macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on a Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) |
Intel Macs are not supported. On macOS 26 the flight simulator runs without Docker Desktop; on earlier versions it needs Docker Desktop. |
Windows |
Windows 10 version 2004 or later, or Windows 11, 64-bit, Intel or AMD processor |
Deneb Aero runs in WSL 2. Virtualization must be enabled in the PC’s firmware (BIOS/UEFI). |
Linux |
64-bit Intel, AMD or Arm processor |
Docker Engine must be installed and usable by your user. |
Memory
Analysis |
Memory |
|---|---|
Quick look, multirotor |
16 GB or more |
Polar through stall (Performance, Full flight model) |
32 GB recommended |
The Review step of the New analysis wizard shows the memory planned for the largest mesh and the memory available for a run. See Step 6: Review and Launch.
Note
On Windows, WSL 2 is given half of the PC’s memory by default. The installer offers to raise this limit. See Installing on Windows.
Disk space
A flow solution and its mesh take several gigabytes per run. Loads, convergence history and the geometry take a few megabytes. By default a campaign keeps the full flow only for a few chosen angles. As a guide, a full flight model of a 2.5 m aircraft keeps about 9 GB and needs up to about 40 GB while solving. The Review step shows the estimate for your aircraft. See Disk Space.
Processor
Each run uses several processor cores. More cores shorten the solve time. The number of cores used for a run is shown in .
Browser
The Studio runs in a current desktop browser. The 3D flow views use WebGPU. Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge support it; in other browsers the flow views may not be available.
Network
An internet connection is needed to sign in, to download the application and the flight simulator, and to save project records. Solving does not need a connection.
