Disk Space

A run’s flow solution and mesh take gigabytes. Its loads, convergence history and geometry take megabytes. The charts, the flight model, the report and the simulator need only the loads. The full flow is needed only to view the flow of that run in the Flow tab.

Choosing which flow to keep

In the Review step of the New analysis wizard, Keep the flow for selects the angles whose flow is kept (by default the cruise angle and the lift peak). Runs with the propellers turning keep their flow as well. Every other run gives up its flow solution and mesh: the runs of the polar when the last angle of the polar is solved, the others as each finishes.

Freeing space later

The Disk space section at the bottom of the Runs tab lists the runs with their flow, marks the cruise angle, the lift peak and the angles you chose, and shows how much can be freed.

  1. Under Keep the flow for, select the runs whose flow you want to keep.

  2. Select Free <size>.

  3. Confirm. The other runs give up their flow solution and mesh and keep their loads.

When nothing can be freed, the section shows Nothing to free.

Warning

Freed flow cannot be restored. To view the flow of such a run again, the run must be solved again.

Free disk space of the computer

The free disk space is shown in Account ‣ This computer. The Review step of the wizard shows how much disk space an analysis keeps and needs while solving. Do not start an analysis that needs more space than is free: runs that run out of disk space fail.
